Consider a Cleanse

Any time of year is a good time for cleansing your body a bit.

Even the cleanest diet can get off balance through poor choices or overindulgence over a period of time and it's nice to have the option of cleansing to get back on track. I like to cleanse at least once a year because it gives me a fresh start inside and gives me extra wriggle room in my clothes without really trying.

Cleanses come in all types, from pre-packaged herbal cleanses, to juice fasting, to colonics, to eating only selected foods, to plain water and many others. Most of us can do a 3-day cleanse without hardship if we are healthy, but some of you might need to check in with your health care provider if you take medications or have a chronic condition. If in doubt, check first!

It is amazing to me how clear my thoughts and feelings become when I clean out the metabolic debris from my organs and tune in to what my body really needs. I am more grounded, less anxious and probably more fun to be around.

For example to keep it easy and painless, you could eat a basic 'clean' diet with very simple foods, eliminating completely those you are allergic to and taking weekly colonics. Regular massage, particularly lymphatic massage can help speed the cleansing program, so build those in. Weekly baths in 1cup epsom salts, 1 cup sea salt and 1 cup baking soda also help immensely. Make sure you have some solid support at home and keep stresses to a minimum while cleansing.

Enjoy the process and the results! Bon appetit!
